I had hoped to kick off nani IRO month with something a bit grander but I had to push that project back to a little later in the month and instead I’m here to show you a simple double gauze skirt I made for my sweet girl.
This is my favourite skirt to make and probably A’s favourite type of clothing to wear. It’s just a width of fabric, a french seam, an elastic waistband, and a nice, deep hem. It’s the kind of skirt you can whip up in no time, like, for example, at 6am this morning. Not that I know anything about that kind of last minute sewing. Nope, not at all.
The fabric is of course from the 2014 nani IRO collection and is Shine Many Ways double gauze in colorway B. It is gorgeous and I love it and I want to make so many things with it. Like something for me to wear, and something to snuggle under. Pajamas and a blanket maybe? Or a skirt, so A and I can be matchy matchy and adorable 😛
Although it’s difficult to see in these photos this colorway has subtle, metallic silver brushstrokes throughout. The delicate colours in this print are so beautiful I think I’m going to call this one my favourite of the 2014 collection. How about you? Can you choose a favourite?
I’m excited for tomorrow as An is going to be here with a nani IRO creation and I know it’s going to be amazing. And please don’t forget to visit everyone else too to see what magic is brewing.

This is so pretty! (and, she is getting sooo big!)
The skirt is gorgeous, Frances! It’s so difficult to pick a favorite from this season’s Nani Iro fabrics… Sen Ritsu? Corsage? Mountain Views? Pierre Pocho? They’re all so amazing!
